A huge rubber duck is a design that could help make cars lighter, and potentially cheaper to build.
It’s the result of years of work by the British firm Rubber Soul, which designed a duck that could lift an airplane by just its trunk.
But the design, which was presented at the International Automobile Congress in Detroit this month, was also bespoke and didn’t work out the way the company hoped.
The rubber duck was made from a composite material and then “recycled” as an entirely new model.
The new rubber duck weighs 3,000 pounds, according to Rubber Soul’s website, which says it can lift up to 1,000 kilograms.
The company’s goal was to develop a material that could be recycled and used in vehicles, according a post on its website.
But Rubber Soul didn’t have the funds or expertise to build the rubber duck for that purpose.
Instead, the company created the “giant” rubber duck that it called “Rube.”
This particular duck is 4,000 times heavier than the previous giant, which made it more of a “heavy” vehicle, the Post and Courier reported.

The huge rubber Duck weighs more than 3,500 pounds, which puts it in line with the previous record-holder, the Giant Rubber Duck that lifted an airplane over 1,400 pounds.
The Rubber Soul giant rubberduck weighs 4,500 lbs.
That’s almost as much as the Boeing 747-400.
The Duck is also the heaviest vehicle ever built, according the company.
The plane weighed 2,000 lbs.
and the duck weighs about 1,800 pounds.
Rubber Soul said the duck was built in the United Kingdom, and it was developed in partnership with British aerospace company BAE Systems.
The duck was developed for BAE by Rubber Soul as part of its BAE Mobility business.
Rubber Souls’ CEO Nick Bevan said the giant rubber was meant to “make the rubber industry sustainable.”
The duck’s biggest challenge was getting the material to work in a vacuum.
“It was like trying to make a car that was 100 percent water-based,” Bevan told the Post & Courier.
“You have to be extremely careful not to break the seals or otherwise break the structural integrity of the vehicle.
It was an extreme challenge.”
The company has designed other rubber duck prototypes and says it has plans to produce more giant rubber ducks in the future.
But for now, Rubber Soul is focused on building its own giant rubber-doll, and said it will be “reliable” in the long run.
“The giant rubber has been our ultimate goal for a very long time,” Bevin told the newspaper.
“This is the culmination of over 20 years of research and development, the development of the composite material, the remanufacturing of the rubber and the manufacturing of the components.”
